Alíz Markovits previously worked in the private sector in finance and international trade, and later carried out numerous project management and expert assignments in both domestic and international projects. As the Head of Development at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Kőszeg, she gained experience in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of regional development projects. A key responsibility was the practical implementation of the KRAFT concept developed at the institute, under the project “Creative City – Sustainable Region: The Case of Kőszeg.”
She is an Associate Professor (titular) at the University of Pannonia. Between March 2020 and June 2025, as CEO, she was responsible for overseeing the coordination of the Veszprém–Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture Program. In this role, she supervised the preparation of the 116 participating municipalities of the Bakony–Balaton region for the program year, as well as the management and implementation of the cultural program series and the related infrastructure developments.
Since June 2024, she has been responsible for coordinating the Veszprém–Balaton European Region of Sport 2026 bid, including its preparation and successful execution. In addition, she is also responsible for the operation of two new cultural institutions in Veszprém under the portfolio of Veszprém–Balaton 2023 Jsc.: the CODE- Center of Digital Experiences and the Castle Prison Visitor Center.
