Began his journalistic career as the first male trainee at "Gala." He briefly studied cultural studies, wrote for "Bild" and "BamS," and authored two autobiographical books. From 2005, Jessen worked for "Vanity Fair," and in 2008, he also became deputy editor-in-chief of the back page at "Bild." He took on his first editor-in-chief position at "Bravo" in 2010.
In 2013, he initially became deputy editor-in-chief and soon became part of the editorial team at "Gala." In 2015, Jessen took over responsibility for stern.de and, after a year, also became part of the editorial team of the print version of "stern." In 2017, he retired from journalism and founded the agency Storymachine with Kai Diekmann and Michael Mronz.
